Windrie Wong, FCAS, MAAA
Mr. Wong, whose actuarial career began in 1982, serves the Burkhalter Group as Vice President, a position he also held with Bickerstaff, Whatley, Ryan & Burkhalter and its predecessors since 1990. He became a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) in 2001. He had received his Associateship designation in the CAS in 1992. He is also a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. For the five years prior to joining Bickerstaff & Associates in 1990, he was an Actuarial Analyst with Milliman & Robertson, Consulting Actuaries, in Pasadena, California.
In his consulting actuarial career, Windrie has managed client projects covering a wide range of property and casualty subjects---including professional liability, automobile, workers' compensation, and crop insurance. Mr. Wong has designed and maintained several computer simulation models, including ones which approximate the probability distribution of loss reserves and the losses in casualty excess-of-loss reinsurance layers, using a variety of terms and assumptions.
Mr. Wong has also designed and maintained a family of programs to analyze the relativities in multi-dimensional rating plans (e.g., class by territory by merit class by deductible, etc.). He also assisted in the design of a simulation model to price a new whole-farm cost of production indemnity product for an agri-business insurer. Mr. Wong has also contributed to several self-insurance projects for hospitals.
A 1981 honors graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point, Mr. Wong began his actuarial career in the Property and Casualty Pricing Department at Sentry Insurance in Stevens Point, WI. As an Actuarial Analyst, he was involved in a variety of commercial lines projects, with special emphasis on Worker's Compensation.
